The work to Break Borders and Build Bridges continues…

Within the framework of the EU Commission’s call for the “Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008”, BorderBlaster is organizing the first event in Stockholm in cooperation with STIM, MIC, Diversité and EMO.

The goal of the project is to create a platform for urban music in Europe. We work to find new ways of promoting local artists internationally and to open up opportunities for upcoming artists to find new markets in order to live on their music.

On May 27 2008, artists and people from music industry from all over Europe are invited to participate on seminars and concerts.

SCANDINAVIAN HIP HOP INVASION

With the goal of bringing Scandinavian creativity to the European scene, BorderBlaster International is now working on the project Scandinavia Hip Hop Invasion for 2008. A compilation containing music, videos and a short film will give an introduction to some of the best artists in Scandinavia.

Objects:

  • Introducing Scandinavian urban culture to the world, starting by France and the largest international music conference MIDEM held in Cannes in January 2008.
  • Making Scandinavian music more well-known worldwide in order to increase business activities.
  • Working with new alternative distribution channels for music in order to meet with future demands and adapt to new developments of the musical industry.
  • Developing collaborations between Scandinavian musicians and producers and the European artists and music industry.
Important dates:
  • January 25, 2008: Press conference at the Swedish Cultural Center (Centre Culturel Suedois) in Paris. This is the starting point for the invasion.
  • January 25, 2008: Release party with showcases.
  • January 25, 2008: Our numerous media partners starts the Media Invasion.
  • February 25, 2008: Official release of the cd/dvd compilation.
  • February 28: A large troupe of Scandinavian artists is invading Paris for a show at Elysées Montmartre. Some of the biggest French artists are invited as guest stars. Show at 19.00. Tickets 15 € (sold at Fnac or in the entrance.)

J-RO

J-Ro (from Tha Alkaholiks) just finished his first solo album together with Juju Records and BorderBlaster International. The first single “You call that love” featuring Chords, is already playing on radios and TV channels. The album will be released around Europe on 25 September.

PARIS HIP HOP FESTIVAL

BorderBlaster France is preparing the second edition of the Paris Hip Hop Festival. As a follow up from last year’s big success, lots of activities will take place between June 22– July 8. It’s the only festival of its kind in France, mixing all elements of Hip Hop – music, dance, graffiti, DJ’s, films etc etc… More information on www.paris-hiphop.com

MANHITOO

ManhitooManhitoo’s first album album “Man Hi-Fi Science” is released on February 21th. It is distributed electronically around the world by Nokia. You can down-load it legally on www.msnmusic.se

Manhitoo’s first video “Le temps passe” will soon start to spin on MTV, Trace TV, CRTV, ChannelO and Canal 2.

Manhitoo is playing at Centre Culturel Français in Yaoundé, Cameroon on February 22. Several surprises are expected… Over 20 000 persons saw Manhitoo’s last show in Douala for “la fête de la musique”. The concert was broadcasted on national TV with millions of viewers.

CAMERHHA - Cameroon Hip Hop Awards 2007

Border-Blaster International is creating and producing the first international hip hop awards in Cameroon - the Cameroon Hip Hop Awards CAMERHHA 2007.

The goal of the event is to BLAST BORDERS, bring hip hop back to the roots and unite urban music from all over the world in Central Africa.

Pre-shows are being organised to warm up before the final Cameroon Hip Hop Award – CAMERHHA 2007. The first pre-shows in June 2006 were a success and even made it to history as it brought an American artist to Cameroon for the first time ever. J-Ro was honoured.

We work to develop and support the African urban culture by encouraging local talents nationally and internationally. Beside the concerts and the final awards in 2007, the CAMERHHA will focus on professionalizing local actors (artists, labels, producers, promoters and others). Workshops will be held to strengthen knowledge around new techniques and business industry to support the development and increase exchanges between South-North.

DOUTY

BorderBlaster International is working with Douty to finalize his album. Douty is coming to Stockholm, Sweden in March to work with producer Mustodamus. Doutys first single will be out in the spring.

Border-Blaster International is responsible for the artistic selection for the Buddha Bar compilation project.

Feria de Malaga

Border-Blaster International booked artists for the Caseta de la Juventud festival in Malaga, Spain – part of the 400-year-old festival Feria de Malaga that gathers around 1 million persons each year.

CAMERHHA pre-shows

Border-Blaster International organise several pre-shows to warm up before the final Cameroon Hip Hop Award – CAMERHHA 2007.

The first pre-shows in June 2006 were a success. Two shows in Douala and Yaoundé brought thousands of people to see more than 20 local hip hop artists and the international artists Solano (Dominican Republic), J-Ro (USA) and La Fouine (France).

The first pre-shows even made it to history as it brought an American artist to Cameroon for the first time ever. J-Ro was honoured.

Christophe Rocancourt feat. 113

Border-Blaster International produced the single “Un trou dans le ventre” with Christophe Rocancourt feat. 113. The project was sold to Sony BMG. The single was commercially released on April 10, 2006 and was immediately classed as no 17 on the top 200 singles in France.

P. Williams & B. Bell

Border-Blaster International is managing the American song producers Pharoah Williams and Brandon Bell in Europe.

113 first encounter in Scandinavia

Border-Blaster International booked 113’s first concert in Sweden at Club Yes! in Stockholm, Sweden (4 February 2006).

Christophe Rocancourt

Border-Blaster International introduced Christophe Rocancourt to the music business (December 2006).

Prominent

Border-Blaster International is working with Prominent for their international album release.

“Le Cerle Familial”

Border-Blaster International was involved in Soul Supreme producing 113 for the album “113 Degrés”. The album has sold over 200 000 copies (November 2005)

Solano

Border-Blaster International is representing Solano. They booked Solano’s first show in Sweden, playing at Berns, Stockholm (May 2005) .

Documentary

A 52-minute long documentary on the preparations of the Cameroon Hip Hop Awards (CAMERHHA) is being prepared. It will be broadcasted on MTV Base, Trace TV and on several local channels. The documentary has been directed by Damon Williams. Samples of the documentary can be seen on www.camerhha.com.

Krotal

Border-Blaster International is working with Krotal for his international album release.
