Make it Blast! is the first step in a movement to promote cultural exchange and create a platform for European urban music.
The goal is to create a more integrated urban music scene in Europe to help individual artists to live on their music.
The project Make it Blast!was initiated at Södra Teatern in Central Stockholm in May 2008. It started with seminars, gathering representatives from all part of the urban music industry including record labels, artists, publishers, distributors, Information Centres, European Music Office, governmental institutions, journalists, producers, consultants, organizations, festival organizers and promoters to share experiences and exchange ideas. The participants started crucial reflections on how to break borders and build bridges between the different local music markets. Representatives from Sweden, Norway, Belgium, Holland, France, UK, Germany, Spain, Austria and USA participated at Make it Blast!.
In the evening, a platform of live shows took place. Over 20 artists performed live on one common stage and made the audience discover the diversity of European hip hop, reggae, soul and R&B music.
Make it Blast! was the first event that was organized by BorderBlaster International in cooperation with the Swedish Music Information Center, European Music Office, Diversités and Music Information Center Norway. It was the beginning of discussions that will take place around Europe with Diversidad.
Diversidad! is a multi-events project organized by European Music Office and Diversités with the support of the European Commission. A series of events will take place around Europe as part of the European Commission’s Call for the Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008.
