The planetary hit Soul Makossa was originally released in 1974. Manu Dibango was then the first african artist to hit the top charts around the world. The song has later inspired many modern artists. The King of Pop Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Akon, Jay-Z and Jennifer Lopez are a few of the names on the long list of artists who have used the song in their music.

First released in 1972, Soul Makossa was a massive hit all over the world. Since then it has influenced artists and music genres around the world.
Soul Makossa has been interpreted by many - most recently by Kanye West on his latest album, and before that by artists like Rihanna, Akon, Eminem, Jennifer Lopez, Jay-Z and of course the well-known version by the King of Pop - Michael Jackson.
The new modern version of the song was remade by Manu Dibango himself and hit-maker and singer Wayne Beckford.
